history

The club, which was founded on September 22, 1958, emerged from the former tournament circle of the Bäulke dance school . The club initially used the premises of the dance school. In 1978 the city of Darmstadt made the assembly hall of the Lessing School available to the association as a training facility. In September 1981 the association inaugurated its own dance sport center, which was housed in the building of a former Coop store in the Waldkolonie district.

In the 1990s, the club built a new dance sports center because the building it had previously used had become too small. The new dance sports center in the district of Am Ziegelbusch was inaugurated at the end of April 1997. The previous dance sports center was rented to a football club as a club house, but was used again from 2001 due to the great need for training areas.

In December 2008, the dance center in the Am Ziegelbusch district was destroyed by fire. Up until the opening of the rebuilt dance sport center at the end of October 2010, rooms were rented for training and halls in the club houses of befriended dance sport clubs were used.

successes

Dance couples from the club have won numerous state championships and German championships. At the beginning of the 21st century, Michael and Beate Lindner won numerous titles, including several standard world championships.

Karl-Heinz Stahl and Doris Ottenritter were German champions in the oldie class in boogie woogie from 1998 to 2000 and 2003, and in 2007 they became German runners-up. In 2000 they also won the world title, which Karl-Heinz Stahl won again with Sylvia Gauß in 2008.
