Czerwone Gitary (2006)

The band Czerwone Gitary (German: Red Guitars ) is one of the most popular bands in Polish music history and is known as "the Polish Beatles ".

history

The band, which appears in German-speaking countries under the name Die Roten Guitars , was founded on January 3, 1965 by Henryk Zomerski and Jerzy Kossela in Gdańsk . Together with Bernard Dornowski, Krzysztof Klenczon and Jerzy Skrzypczyk, the band went on their first major tour in Poland a few months later under the motto We play and sing loudest in Poland . The first replacement took place in December 1965. Zomerski left the band shortly after the formation and was replaced by Seweryn Krajewski , who composed most of the group's titles in the following years.

At Midem , the world's largest music fair, in 1968 they and the Beatles received an award for the best-selling records in Poland. This award marked the breakthrough in the international music business. In the German Democratic Republic alone they sold over a million records in the 1970s and 1980s. Eight years later they were again in an international arena; In 1977 they won the 2nd prize at the Grand Prix de Intervision Sopot with Nie Spoczniemy ( We're moving on ).

Their 1999 album ... jeszcze gra muzyka was named the best album in the band's history by critics. Since 2000 tours have taken the Red Guitars to Poland, the USA , the Moscow Kremlin and Germany , Austria and Switzerland .

Artur Chyb has been a guitarist and singer in the band since 2013. He is to be the successor of Jerzy Kossela.
