Rotenfluh

The Rotenfluh (also called Rotenflue ) is a 1,571 meter high mountain east above the canton capital Schwyz . It is located in the direct southern neighborhood of the Mythen .

The cable car with two gondolas between Rickenbach and the Rotenfluh had to be dismantled in 2004 for safety reasons - a mast threatened to tip over. After that, various projects were created to re-establish a cable car operation.

The project with a gondola lift from the old valley station to the highest point of the mountain was implemented, and the new mountain railway has been in operation since 2015 ( Rotenfluebahn ).

On October 20, 2019, one of the 8-seater gondolas crashed due to a gust of wind . This gondola was not manned at the time of the accident.

The Rotenfluh is a popular starting point for hikes on the Grosse Mythen .
