Roter Hof (Pulkau)

The Rote Hof in Pulkau in Lower Austria is a two-story Renaissance building with baroque details. It originally served as an economic and reading yard. The building is a historical monument.

Building description

The core of the Rote Hof dates back to the late 16th century and was used by the Lords of Traun (today Abensperg and Traun ) to store the tithe they earned . Baroque changes were made in the 17th and 18th centuries that give the building its current appearance.

The facade is late baroque. On the ashlar ground floor with windows unterkehlten Sohlbänken and profiled Fensterverdachungen the floor with stucco fields and stands pilasters of "1767", the year the Baroque style. The building has a gable roof with stepped volute gables , which are crowned by tabernacle-like attachments from the 17th century. The chimneys date from the 16th and 17th centuries.

The side entrance gate with a rectangular frame with heraldic cartouches, a volute wedge stone and rose inserts is marked "1580". The gate is closed over a profiled roof by a trapezoidal gable flanked by pillars with a stylized volute decoration from the 17th century.

On the courtyard side, there is a smokehouse from the 16th century with a pyramid chimney.

The hallway and cellar are vaulted with barrel vaults with stitch caps . In the cellar, which was originally probably connected to the cellars of other houses, there is a double press labeled "1700".
