The Rote Nile is a right branch of the Spree in Lübben in the Spreewald in Brandenburg .
Surname
The name Roter Nile was only popular in the 1990s, when the name plates were installed on bridges in Lübben. In the meantime it has been included in the official water cadastre. It has its reddish color from iron deposits on the ground. The name came from the imagination of people in the 19th century.

The Red Nile begins at the transition from the A-Graben Nord, then runs in a north-westerly direction and crosses under the federal highway 87 (Frankfurter Strasse). There it flows into the Umflutkanal, a branch of the Spree .
