  2013

The 1st Tour of Vietnam took place from December 17th to 22nd, 2012 in the south of Vietnam around Ho Chi Minh City and Cần Thơ on flat terrain, which is why no mountain classification was carried out. The race was part of the UCI Asia Tour 2013 , where it was classified in category 2.2 . The first eight drivers in the overall standings and the first three of each stage as well as those wearing the yellow jersey of the overall leader received points for the Asia ranking list after each stage. The Tour of Vietnam was the first international cycling race in this country in the history of cycling. After the five regular stages, another criterion took place in Ho Chi Minh City on December 22nd, but it did not count towards the overall ranking.

The overall winner of the stage race was En Huang ( Max Success Sports ). He won by just two seconds over the second placed Vietnamese Hưng Mai Nguyễn from Eximbank. Thanks to his success on the second stage, he was able to achieve the first ever victory for a Vietnamese in an international cycling race. The podium was completed by the Iranian Mohamad Rajablou ( Ayandeh Iran ). The German Timo Scholz ( CCN Cycling Team ) achieved seventh place overall.

Attendees

Local Vietnamese teams as well as foreign teams, including from Brunei , Kazakhstan and Malaysia, were at the start . Four Continental teams visited the tour.
