The Red Cross Orchestra ( formerly : DRK Orchestra) is the musical train of the German Red Cross ( DRK ).

history

As early as 1901, the music corps of the voluntary medical column was founded in Berlin , which was later officially appointed the DRK orchestra . However, it was disbanded in the early 1980s. For the 100th anniversary of the Bad Kissingen medical team, the Red Cross Orchestra was founded in Bad Kissingen , Bavaria in 1988 .

At the state assembly of the Bavarian Red Cross on November 11, 1989, the orchestra performed in public for the first time in the presence of Bruno Merk and Reinhold Vöth . To this day, the orchestra plays on all important German Red Cross events .

In addition to the Red Cross orchestras, there are two youth Red Cross orchestras in Meiningen , Thuringia and Eckernförde , Schleswig-Holstein .
