Susanne von Berlin-Heimendahl

Susanne Maria Hedwig Charlotte von Berlin-Heimendahl , born von Heimendahl and married from Berlin (born September 4, 1916 in Berlin ; † April 13, 2002 ), was a German pediatrician , senior physician at the University Children's Hospital in Munich and a professor at Ludwig-Maximilians -University of Munich (LMU).

Life

From Berlin-Heimendahl from the family who came from Heimendahl and was the daughter of Walther von Heimendahl, a former captain of cavalry , and his wife, nee Michaelis. After graduating from high school in 1935, she passed her medical state examination in 1940. In 1941 she received her doctorate with a thesis on the surgical treatment of intracerebral bleeding . At the Munich University Children's Clinic, where she had been working since 1940, she took over the polyclinical department of the institute there in 1947. From 1946 she also headed the newborn department at the women's clinic on Maistraße . In 1951 she married the lawyer Alexander Oswald Artur Johannes von Berlin (1896–1975), who had been married to Marie Sabine Sophie Ehrentraut von Klitzing (1896–1945) for the first time.

In 1955 she completed her habilitation with a thesis on inclusion bodies in the pharyngeal epithelium of humans . Afterwards, by ministerial decision from July 27, 1955, she initially worked as a private lecturer in paediatrics at the Munich LMU , where she taught practical pediatrics with a focus on newborn and premature diseases and from 1957 worked as a trainer for obstetrics . Since 1964 she taught at the LMU as an adjunct professor . Her work, first published in 1961, The Great Handbook of Infant Care and Raising Children was published in several editions.

During her time in Munich, Susanne von Berlin-Heimendahl lived at Papperitzstrasse 5 in Munich-Solln .
