The Rotterdams Jongenskoor ( German  Rotterdam Boys 'Choir ) is a Dutch boys' choir from Rotterdam . It was founded in 1957 by Freek Velders. The choir is under the direction of Geert van den Dungen .

repertoire

The repertoire ranges from Babylonian temple chants (2nd millennium BC) to contemporary music (2000). One focus is the Renaissance , whose composers such as Hans Leo Hassler , Richard Dering , Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina , Thoinot Arbeau , Thomas Morley and Thomas Ford are often represented in the repertoire.

International

In addition to numerous appearances in the Netherlands itself, the choir has so far toured the USA ( Washington, DC ), France ( Paris ), Denmark ( Copenhagen ), Russia ( Moscow ) and Austria ( Vienna ). In October 2004 the choir was on tour in Switzerland ( Basel , Bern , Freiburg im Üechtland , Geneva ). A worldwide concert tour on all five continents is planned for the next few years.
