The building Rottersdorfer Straße 8, 9 is a listed residential and commercial building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located on the southwest side of Rottersdorfer Straße in Magdeburg's Sudenburg district , near the northern end of the street.

Architecture and history

The four and a half storey building was built in 1887 by master mason G. Marquardt , who was also the owner of the house. The nine-axis facade is designed in the neo-renaissance style. It is decorated with plastic facade decorations. There are plaster tape rustics on the ground floor facade. A console cornice protrudes above the second floor. The window openings on the first and second floors are provided with window canopies made of cantilever panels. The panels are supported by consoles or pilasters of the Ionian order. On the first floor, the pilasters are also placed on consoles.

The building has a mezzanine floor . Originally it was provided with narrow window openings, but these were later walled up.

In the local register of monuments , the residential and commercial building is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 76834 .

As part of the ensemble around the Sankt-Marien-Kirche, the building is considered significant in terms of urban development. In terms of the history of the district, it is important as the historical building fabric of Sudenburg.
