The Coppermine Peninsula is a rugged and 1.7 km long and 0.5 km wide peninsula at the western end of Robert Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . As the western branch of the Alfatar Peninsula, it separates Carlota Cove from Coppermine Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 in connection with the Coppermine Cove, the namesake of which is a deposit of copper discovered by sealers in 1821 .
