Rous Cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rous Cup was a short-lived football tournament played between the national teams of England and Scotland, and later Latin American visiting teams.

Summary

The Rous Cup was a revival of the British Home Championship . The competition was named after Sir Stanley Rous , a former Secretary of the Football Association and President of the world association FIFA . To make the tournament more exciting, teams from Latin America were later invited. Due to the growing number of English hooligans , the idea of the tournament was finally given up.
