Roy Baumeister (2011)

Roy F. Baumeister (born May 16, 1953 ) has been professor of social psychology at the University of Queensland in Australia since 2016 , with a focus on sexuality, self-control, self-assertion mechanisms, motivation and aggression.

From 1970 until his doctorate in 1978 he studied at Princeton University , in Heidelberg and at Duke University . He then spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California at Berkeley . In 1984 he became an associate professor at Case Western Reserve University and worked there until 1989. During this period, he was a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin from 1986 to 1987.

Roy Baumeister is one of the very few researchers in the world who has dealt scientifically with unrequited love .

In 2015 Baumeister was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
