Rozbeh Asmani

Rozbeh Asmani (born April 1, 1983 in Shiraz ) is an Iranian-born German artist and professor for new media and applied graphics in the visual arts at the University of Greifswald .

Life

After studying at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art , he was a master student of Günther Selichar . As a postgraduate at the Art Academy for Media Cologne , he received the sponsorship award in 2013 for his work Colourmarks . His work has been shown in group exhibitions in German museums such as the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin , the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg , the Kunstmuseum Bonn and the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig .

Rozbeh Asmani artistically deals with the aesthetics of capitalism . The Colourmarks group of works is the result of his research , which has been ongoing since 2009 to this day, into the color marks registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office . He visualizes the influence on the human collective memory that arises from the fact that colors are used by companies for their corporate identity . In the screen printing , and C print method abstract color plates arise. His work shows influences from western and eastern cultures.

In 2015 he was the first artist to be appointed to the Young College of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts . Asmani has been Professor at the Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald since April 1, 2020.
