Ruaben , after a more likely reading more likely Niruab (in proper name spelling ), was a high ancient Egyptian official under King ( Pharaoh ) Ninetjer during the 2nd Dynasty .

Office

Ruaben had a title that is rarely used and is therefore interpreted differently: "Medjehu-genutj". Walter B. Emery interpreted him as the " overseer of the sculptors ", while Peter Kaplony and Wolfgang Helck interpret him as " master carver and painter ". Ruaben may have been the overseer of the stone transport in the royal shipyard , since inscriptions on vessels from his grave mention two important types of ships in addition to the nebti name of the Ninetjer.

dig

His grave, Mastaba S2302 , is in Saqqara and, at 58 m × 32.6 m, is one of the largest private graves of this time, which underlines a special position of Ruaben. It also has by far the most extensive and complex internal structure.
