Rubén Corbo , full name Rubén Romeo Corbo Burmia , (born January 20, 1952 ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.76-meter-tall offensive player Corbo, brother of the football goalkeeper Walter Corbo , stood in the ranks of Racing in 1970 . That year, in a game against Peñarol, he scored a goal against his brother who guarded the opponent's goal. He was then a member of the Peñarols squad in the Primera División from 1971 to 1974 . With the Aurinegros he won the Uruguayan championship in 1973 and 1974 and the Trofeo Teresa Herrera in 1974 . The club from Montevideo also won the Liguilla Pre-Libertadores in this phase in 1974 . Then Corbo's path led to Mexico . There he played from the season 1974/75 to 1979/80 for Monterrey . Overall, he scored 63 or 68 goals there, depending on the sources. This puts him in third place in the best list in the club's history. In the seasons 1980/81 to 1983/84 he was under contract with Tampico and the successor club Tampico Madero.

National team

Corbo was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 23 international matches between February 8, 1971 and June 23, 1974. He did not score an international goal. Corbo took part in the 1974 World Cup with Uruguay . There he was used in the course of the competition in the two group matches against Bulgaria and Sweden .
