Walter Corbo , full name Walter Luis Corbo , (born May 2, 1949 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Goalkeeper Walter Corbo, brother of soccer player Rubén Corbo , began his career with Racing in Montevideo . He was a member of the Peñarols squad in the Primera División from 1970 to 1974 and again in 1976 . In 1973 and 1974 Corbo won the Uruguayan championship with Aurinegros , who were coached by Juan Ricardo Faccio , Hugo Bagnulo and José María Rodríguez as coach in these seasons . With the Copa Teresa Herrera and the Liguilla championship in 1974 further titles could be won. In the course of his career he then played for the Mexican club Monterrey and almost two years for the Brazilian club Gremio Porto Alegre . With the latter club he won the 1977 state championship in Rio Grande do Sul . With the Brazilians 47 league appearances are made for him. By the 31st matchday of the Metro in 1980 and thus around mid-1980, he was then in Argentina in ranks of San Lorenzo . His engagement ended because he refused to continue his work for the club due to the existing debts of the club's management. He played 48 games for San Lorenzo and was the team captain in his last season there. From there he moved to the Argentinos Juniors . There he was behind compatriot Mario Gualberto Alles only in the second row, so that he finally returned to San Lorenzo. However, it was no longer used there. In 1982 Corbo played for River Plate Montevideo .

National team

Corbo was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed eleven international matches between February 8, 1971 and June 9, 1976. He had to accept 21 goals. Corbo took part in the 1970 World Cup with Uruguay . However, it was not used during the tournament. Also belonged to the Uruguayan squad at the Copa América 1975 .
