Ruben Escalante

Ruben Armando Escalante Hasbun (born August 2, 1979 ) is a diplomat from El Salvador who has been the permanent representative to the United Nations since October 2017 .

Life

After attending school, Escalante completed a degree in international relations at the Universidad de El Salvador, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree. He completed another postgraduate course in international politics at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo with a master's degree . In June 2002 he joined the Foreign Service and was initially a consultant in the Department for Foreign Policy and later between November 2008 and November 2011 international coordinator of the Tokyo-based non - governmental organization Peace Boat , which specializes in conflict avoidance, the promotion of human rights, environmental protection issues and nuclear disarmament begins. He then moved to the Permanent Mission of El Salvador to the United Nations in New York City , where he initially worked as Counselor between December 2011 and May 2013 and then as Deputy Permanent Representative from May 2013 to July 2015.

On November 3, 2017, he presented his credentials as Permanent Representative to the United Nations .
