Ruben Gel Cord

Ruben Gelbord was a Swedish football referee and - functionary .

Career

Gelbord was involved in the development of Swedish football at the beginning of the 20th century . He first appeared as a referee and between 1907 and 1910 led the final four times in a row for the Svenska Mästerskapet . At the same time he was one of the first FIFA referees and headed international matches . He also headed two games at the 1912 Summer Olympics , including the semifinals between the eventual Olympic champion Great Britain and the Finnish national team . In 1915, 1921, 1922 and at the last championship in cup mode before the introduction of the title in the Allsvenskan in August 1925, he was again referee of the Swedish championship final.

In 1917, Gelbord became the founding chairman of the local Stockholm Football Association. He held this office until the end of 1927. He had already been involved in Svenska Fotbollförbundet and was a member of the selection committee of the Swedish national team ("Uttagningskommitté").

In the bandy , Gelbord acted as a referee and also directed the final for the Swedish championship several times.
