Ruben Silberling

Ruben Silberling (born December 28, 1980 in Gießen ) is a German filmmaker , photo designer and lecturer .

Silberling grew up on the edge of the Vogelsberg . In 1992 he moved with his parents to Porta Westfalica in East Westphalia , where shortly afterwards he made his first video films with school friends.

After graduating from high school and doing community service , he completed a one-year internship as an AVID editor in a Bielefeld media production company . He then studied film and television economics at the Marquardt Advertising and Media Academy in Dortmund from 2003 to 2007 and, in addition to some short films, produced his first feature film , " Lamento " , which premiered at the Emden / Norderney International Film Festival . The film was nominated there for the NDR Young Talent Award and subsequently for various other film awards. This was followed by a roadshow with sneak previews and then the evaluation on DVD and VoD .

After graduating with a diploma , Silberling founded the independent production company BigBearFilm GbR in Bückeburg together with his college friend, the director Carsten Vauth .

In 2011 Silberling was involved in the realization of “3 rules”, one of the first interactive “playable” films. The film won the Grand Challenge Award EuroITV 2012 and was shown in the Shortfilm Corner of the Festival de Cannes 2013 . Further festival successes followed with the short films "Umleitung" and "Reborn", before Silberling specialized in the production of advertising films.

Today he lives with his partner in Porta Westfalica.
