Ruby Teitelbaum

Rubin Teitelbaum (born January 4 . Jul / 17th January  1907 greg. In Tapa , † 4. September 1941 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian weightlifter .

Life and sport

Teitelbaum belonged to the Jewish community in Estonia . He attended the Jewish high school in Tallinn.

During his athletic career, Teitelbaum was seven-time Estonian weightlifting champion from 1927 to 1933. In 1929 he took part in the 21st European Weightlifting Championships in Vienna . At the second Maccabiad in Palestine in 1935 , he won a gold medal in weightlifting.

The Estonian athlete Sara Teitelbaum (1910–1941) was his sister.

In June 1941, the German attacked Wehrmacht , the Soviet Union and moved into the Baltics before. On August 28, 1941, the National Socialists occupied Tallinn. Teitelbaum, who had not left the Estonian capital, was arrested by the National Socialists and murdered a few days later.
