Eduard Sauerzopf
Eduard Sauerzopf (born August 12, 1930 in Stegersbach ; † April 3, 2011 in Jennersdorf ) was a draftsman from southern Burgenland .
Life
He spent his childhood in his parents' small farm in Stegersbach-Bergen. There, as he remembers on the occasion of his 65th birthday, “there was very seldom any cash, but there were important stimuli for development, for imagination and for the mind. There was a lot to read and see. "
After the teacher training college in Strebersdorf (Matura 1949) he worked as a teacher in Rohr, Güssing and Neustift near Güssing; from 1955 until his retirement at the Jennersdorf secondary school. As an employee of the Neumarkt an der Raab cultural association from the very beginning (1968), he founded the artists' village Neumarkt an der Raab and as the initiator of the summer musical courses there, he matured from an art teacher to an artist and had been a member of the Burgenland artist group since 1978. As an employee at the International Cultural History Symposium Mogersdorf, he initiated the art exhibitions and international student exhibitions in the border triangle Austria-Hungary-Slovenia.
Eduard Sauerzopf was active as an illustrator for books and newspapers and magazines, e.g. B. for “ word mill ”, “people and homeland” (today “culture and education”), “styrian reports”. His drawings were made in Germany a. a. Exhibited in the Museum of the 20th Century in Vienna, in Esterhazy Castle and in the ORF regional studio in Eisenstadt and in the Burgenland cultural centers, abroad in Murska Sobota (Slovenia), Rome, Szentgotthard (Hungary), Grenchen (Switzerland), Hamburg and Istanbul .
Sauerzopf went down in literary history as “poet servant”: Dietmar Grieser referred to him as such in his book “Schauplätze Österreichischer Literatur” because he served Peter Handke as “cicerone and advisor, manager and chauffeur” when he was in the autumn of 1968 Neumarkt an der Raab wrote his novel The fear of the goalie at the penalty kick .
Eduard Sauerzopf died on April 3, 2011 in the Mother Teresa House in Jennersdorf, where he had spent the last years of his life.
