Dietmar Grieser (born March 9, 1934 in Hanover ) is an Austrian author of non-fiction books , journalist , radio and television author.

Life

Dietmar Grieser grew up in the Saar-Palatinate , began his studies in journalism and social science in Münster and Munich and has lived in Vienna since 1957 after a semester abroad , where he also took on Austrian citizenship. From 1957 to 1960 he worked as a student editor for the Semesterspiegel . Since 1973 he has written several bestsellers and longsellers , which have been translated into various languages. His extensive work also includes numerous radio and television series such as scenes from world literature , poetry and truth and heads . He specializes in literary reports, documentaries and feature sections . Grieser is a member of the Austrian PEN Club .

Dietmar Grieser has been honored with numerous prizes, such as the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art 1st Class and the Eichendorff Literature Prize . In 1988 he was awarded the title “Professor honoris causa ” by the Republic of Austria through its Federal President Kurt Waldheim . In the anniversary year of the city of Zweibrücken ("650 years Zweibrücken") in 2002, Grieser was town clerk there , in 2004 he received the first book prize awarded by the Viennese economy , in 2017 he received the Sudeten German Culture Prize for Literature .
