The semester mirror (abbreviation SSP ) is a student newspaper published in Münster . It has been published since 1954, making it the oldest continuously published student newspaper in Germany. It appears about four times a year, always during the semester.

The semester table is published by the so-called editor's committee (HGA), a committee of the student parliament of the University of Münster , and is open to all students in Münster. The newspaper, which is available free of charge in the canteens and institutes, is financed by means of the student body ( semester fee ). The content-related conception and compilation is carried out by an editor-in-chief, department head, editorial team and a permanently employed managing director and layouter each. In terms of content, the editorial team is independent of the General Student Committee .

In terms of content, the semester mirror deals with (university) politics and current campus events as well as culture and student life with a special focus on Münster. In addition, a cover topic is treated as a focus in each issue. In addition to the contributions of the editors, the articles are largely contributions from freelancers and other students.

The Semesterspiegel was founded in 1954. The first student editor-in-chief was the later media scientist Peter Pleyer . At the end of the fifties and mid-sixties the later journalists Walter Vitt and Cornelius Riewerts and today's social scientist Klaus Hurrelmann were editors at the SSP. In 1969 an article by Ulrike Meinhof appeared in the SSP , who co-founded the RAF the following year .

In June 2012 the 400th edition of the semester mirror was published; For this anniversary, the editorial team also organized a lecture series on various topics.
