Karl-Heinz Krems

Karl-Heinz Krems (born May 3, 1955 in Kamen ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Karl-Heinz Krems studied law and was involved in various organizations during his studies. He worked as a student editor at Semesterspiegel and was a member of the board of the United German Student Unions (VDS) in 1977/78 and became Federal Chairman of the Liberal University Association (LHV) in 1978 . From 1972 to 1982 he was a member of the Young Democrats and the FDP. In 1984 he became a member of the SPD and is currently its deputy chairman in Düsseldorf and in the 7th district .

In Cabinet Kraft I he became State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice at the end of his term of office . On May 26, 2012 he succeeded Brigitte Mandt , who left office in January due to her election as President of the State Audit Office of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the early state elections , Krems had previously won the direct mandate in the Düsseldorf II constituency and was thus entered into the state parliament . However, after being appointed State Secretary, he returned his mandate to the state parliament. His successor was Norbert Römer , who was unable to win his constituency directly, but was to become the SPD parliamentary group leader again in the state parliament. When Krems renounced the mandate, the way was cleared for this. He lost the office of State Secretary after the state elections in 2017.

Krems is married and has a daughter. The family lives in the Gerresheim district of Düsseldorf .
