Ruby Ellen Fox (born August 11, 1945 in Los Angeles ) is a former American sports shooter .
successes
Ruby Fox won a total of six medals at world championships : with the air pistol team, she initially secured silver in Thun in 1974 before winning the title with her in Seoul in 1979 . In 1981 in Santo Domingo and 1983 in Innsbruck she took third place with her. In 1978 in Seoul she also won bronze in the team competition with the combination pistol. With the air pistol, she became world champion in the same position the following year. At the Pan American Games in Caracas in 1983 , she secured the gold medal with both the air pistol team and the sports pistol team. 1987 followed in Indianapolis in the individual with the sport pistol another gold medal. Fox took part in the Olympic Games twice. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , like Linda Thom , she initially reached 585 points and thus shared first place. In the jump-off for Olympic victory, Fox lost 197 points to Thom, who scored 198 points, and thus received the silver medal. In 1988 , Fox took 22nd place with the air pistol in Seoul, and 26th with the sport pistol.
Fox was 28 years long Reservist of the US Army before it was eliminated from the reserve of 2003. After her active career, she was, among other things, the national coach of Thailand and an official at the National Rifle Association .
