The Ruchower See is located in the north of the Sternberg lake landscape in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , directly south of the town of the same name Ruchow, in the Mustin municipality . The poorly structured, roughly rectangular body of water has a maximum length of around 390 meters and a maximum width of 290 meters. The bank slopes are steep. The lake has no above-ground drainage, piping leads to a ditch that connects the south-east lying Ruckwitzsee with the south-west lying Mustiner See . There is a small island in the Ruchower See. The lake is the northernmost lake in a chain of lakes running through the municipality from north to south.
A pile settlement from the Slav period was found on the east bank of the lake.
