Rudi Maskus

Rudi Maskus (born April 26, 1920 in Breslau ; † September 12, 2010 in Giessen ) was a German educator and writer .

life and work

Rudi Maskus grew up in Breslau. He attended the local high school "Zum Heiligen Geist", where he graduated from high school in 1938. After a year in the Reich Labor Service , he became a soldier and from the first day of the war he was on the front lines in Poland, France and the Soviet Union. During the Kursk offensive he was taken prisoner by the Soviets in the summer of 1943 , from which he was released at the end of 1948.

Maskus began studying in the summer semester of 1949, started teaching in 1951 and received his doctorate in 1958 from the University of Münster with the work of Peter Petersen's concept of community and its educational significance . His academic career eventually led to a full professorship for general didactics and school pedagogy at the University of Bonn .

Rudi Maskus was a founding member (1978) of the German Society for Gender Education (DGG) , holder of the Federal Cross of Merit and member of the Bonn Free German Academy of Sciences and Arts .

After his retirement , Maskus devoted himself to the subject of the expulsion of Germans after the Second World War, which he also experienced as the fate of his life . He gave four books with eyewitness accounts and an autobiography. It must have been guardian angels. The fate of a survivor out of Wroclaw in Silesia .
