history
At the request of the Austrian Mountain Association in 1925, the then chairman Rudolf Proksch († 1925, age: 47; grandfather of Udo Proksch ) granted permission to build an accommodation house on Pfaffstättner Kogel, on May 11, 1930 the building was officially opened and has been since then run as an inn all year round. In 2003 the hut was electrified and connected to the sewage system in an exemplary manner; In 2007 a forest playground was built on the property.
In the autumn / winter 2012/13 issue of Freizeit & Kulinarik magazine , the Rudolf Proksch Hut was voted the most popular refuge in Eastern Austria; the mountain sports magazine “Bergsteiger” awarded the Rudolf Proksch Hut the “Favorite Hut” award twice in a row (spring 2013 / summer 2014).
On May 28, 2017, the hut, which had been closed since June 28, 2015 due to legal disputes as well as the poor condition and a general renovation that has become essential, was able to reopen. A new kitchen building was built. The roof, facade, electrical and water installations, all outdoor facilities and the Klesheim observation tower were renovated. According to the mountain association, the costs, which amounted to 100,000 euros, were partially taken over by the municipality of Pfaffstätten and the state of Lower Austria.
