Rudolf Achenbach

Rudolf Achenbach (born January 10, 1928 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 6, 2015 ) was a German entrepreneur . He founded the Achenbach Delikatessen Manufaktur and initiated the Rudolf Achenbach Prize .

Life

After the Second World War , Achenbach began a commercial apprenticeship in fruit and vegetable import and trade. In April 1954 he founded a company for the production of concentrated soups with his wife Ingrid and two employees in Frankfurt-Unterliederbach.

At the beginning of the 1960s, further delicatessen products such as pies and terrines followed . From 1961 the company grew into a nationally known manufacturer when production was relocated to a new building at today's location in Sulzbach (Taunus) .

The Rudolf Achenbach Prize , initiated in 1975, is recognized as a nationwide youth competition for young chefs in the industry and among the general public. It is still held today.

In the mid-1990s, Rudolf Achenbach withdrew from active day-to-day business and appointed his daughter Petra Moos-Achenbach to the management of the Achenbach Delikatessen Manufaktur .
