Rudolf Besthorn

Rudolf Besthorn (born November 27, 1909 in Nordhausen ; † September 27, 1984 in Greifswald ) was a German Romanist .

Life

Besthorn received his doctorate in 1935 under Karl Voretzsch at the University of Halle with the thesis Origin and Character of the Older Italian Novella (Halle a. S. 1935). He was a lecturer from 1953 and completed his habilitation in 1964 at the University of Greifswald with the work Text-critical studies on the work of Holbach with special consideration of the early writings (published and T. Text-critical studies on the work of Holbach , Berlin 1969). From 1964 to 1975 he was Professor of Romance Philology at the University of Greifswald.

Grave (2014)

Besthorn's grave is in the cemetery of the Bugenhagenkirche (Greifswald-Wieck) .
