Rudolf Brinkmann ( December 29, 1873 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ) - November 3, 1927 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Brinkmann, the son of a pastry shop owner, began his training at the Cologne Opera and Drama School with Paul Hoppe at the age of 16 . After he was still taught by him in Hamburg, he went to Heilbronn in 1895 and then to the German Opera in Amsterdam, which however soon disbanded. In 1897 he was signed to the Frankfurt Opera and worked there until his untimely death in late 1927.

Allegedly he sang an almost unbelievable number of parts (between 300 and 500).

Brinkmann, who adhered to the ideas of the Freemasons , was married to the opera soubrette Minnie Rau . He died at the age of 54.
