Rudolf Dittler

Rudolf Dittler (born November 2, 1881 in Höchst am Main , † January 21, 1959 in Marburg ) was a German physiologist and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in Karlsruhe, Rudolf Dittler studied medicine at the universities of Freiburg, Munich, Berlin and Leipzig. In 1901 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania in Freiburg . In 1907 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . In 1909 he completed his habilitation there in physiology, and in 1915 he was appointed associate professor. During the First World War he was chief physician and leader of a medical company. Among other things, he was awarded the Iron Cross II. And I. Class. In 1922 he received a call as a full professor and director of the Physiological Institute at the University of Marburg. He held the chair until 1949.

In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . He was a supporting member of the SS and belonged to the Nazi Medical Association .

His experimental investigations dealt with muscle, nerve and sensory physiology.
