Rudolf Gleißner

Rudolf Gleißner (born March 17, 1942 in Nuremberg ) is a German cellist .

He studied the cello with André Navarra , Enrico Mainardi and Pablo Casals . His musical thinking is strongly influenced by the collaboration with Sergiu Celibidache .

Gleißner began as principal cellist with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1968 and was then principal cellist with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1970 to 2007 .

Since 1970 he has been playing in the chamber music ensemble Stuttgart Soloists , of which he is one of the founders. Since 1978 he has been teaching as a professor for violoncello at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart .
