Rudolf HW burin
Rudolf HW Stichel (born September 2, 1945 in Berlin ) is a German classical archaeologist .
Life
Stichel, brother of the Byzantinist Rainer Stichel , studied classical archeology at the universities of Berlin and Tübingen . In 1975, he was there with a dissertation on Roman imperial portrait from the late 4th to 6th century doctorate . From 1975 to 1976 he was a research volunteer at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe, after which he was a research assistant for the Kerameikos excavation of the German Archaeological Institute in Athens . From 1979 he was a research assistant and later an academic adviser in the Classical Archeology department of the Architecture Department at the TU Darmstadt . There he was in 1990 with a thesis on "Ancient Monuments of Constantinople in testimonies of the early modern period" habilitation . He later received the title of adjunct professor .
His more recent research is mainly concerned with questions of Byzantine Constantinople and here in particular with the Hagia Sophia .
