Rudolf Hertz
Rudolf Hertz (born April 3, 1897 in Düsseldorf , † June 22, 1965 in Bonn ) was a German linguist and state politician.
Live and act
Hertz completed his habilitation in 1930 in Bonn in the subject of Celtic philology and was initially a private lecturer . In 1938 his license to teach was withdrawn because of his “non-Aryan origin”.
After the Second World War he was appointed associate professor in 1946 and full professor for linguistics in 1953 . He was temporarily head of Celtological research at the University of Bonn .
In addition, Hertz was a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for the FDP in 1946 and 1947 .
