Rudolf Herzer

Rudolf Herzer (born November 11, 1878 in Rottleben , † October 20, 1914 in Allenstein , East Prussia) was a German composer .

He came with his family from Kyffhäuser to Rudolstadt in Thuringia . Here he entered the military music service with the 96th Infantry Regiment at the age of 24 and was appointed head of the music corps six years later. During the First World War his regiment was stationed on the Eastern Front, where he died in the first year of the war.

The military and concert march opus 10 Hoch Heidecksburg , composed in 1912, was Herzer's greatest success.
