Rudolf II (Vexin)

Rudolf II. († 943 ) was a Count of Vexin , Amiens and Valois from the first House of Valois in the 10th century.

He was a son of Count Rudolf I (Raoul de Gouy) and probably a daughter of King Charles III. the simple-minded . The chronicler Alberich von Trois-Fontaines called him the nepos of King Ludwig IV the overseas . In 943 he attacked Count Heribert II of Vermandois and was killed in battle.

Rudolf was married to a lady Liutgardis, who was her second marriage to Count Galeran I. von Meulan. His successor in office Walter I could have been his son or brother.

Rudolf's biography served as a historical model for the chanson de geste "Raoul de Cambrai", which originated in the 12th century .
