Rudolf Jäger (singer)

Rudolf Jäger ( August 30, 1875 in Dresden - January 22, 1948 in Leipzig ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ) and singing teacher .

Life

Jäger, the son of a master locksmith, first studied law, but then attended the Dresden Music School and was trained there by Richard Müller . After that he was engaged at the Hofbühne Dresden in 1898. He made his debut in 1899 in the role of the helmsman in The Flying Dutchman . In 1899 he sang at the Stadttheater Essen, but soon went back to Dresden, where he worked until 1908. Among other things, he was the interpreter of Narraboth in the premiere of Richard Strauss ' Salome in December 1905 in Dresden.

In 1908 Jäger accepted an engagement at the Leipzig Opera House and stayed there until 1925. In 1925 he had to give up his career for health reasons and then worked as a singing teacher in Dresden. From 1945 he lived in Leipzig and died in 1948.
