Rudolf Kolisch
Rudolf Kolisch (born July 20, 1896 in Klamm , Lower Austria ; † August 1, 1978 in Watertown , Massachusetts ) was an Austrian- American violinist .
Life
Rudolf Kolisch studied violin with Otakar Ševčík and composition with Franz Schreker and Arnold Schönberg . In 1924 he became Schönberg's brother-in-law. Kolisch lived in America during World War II.
Its importance lay in the interpretation of the new music of the 20th century by the Kolisch Quartet (formerly the Vienna String Quartet), which he founded. Kolisch favored the tempered mood in the quartet's interpretations .
His honorary grave is on the Grinzinger Friedhof (group 6, row 6, number 9) in Vienna.
