Rudolf Kratzert

Rudolf Kratzert (* 1946 in Heidelberg ; † September 27, 2018 in Heidelberg) was a German piano teacher, pianist and teacher of the Alexander Technique .

Life

After graduating from high school, Rudolf Kratzert studied with Gerhard Puchelt (Berlin) from 1966 to 1971, where he passed the artistic maturity examination and the state examination for music teachers with a major in piano in 1971 . Further pianistic studies followed first (as a DAAD scholarship holder ) with Carlo Zecchi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome (1971), then with Walter Kamlet at the Conservatory in Basel (1972 to 1975). In 1972 he began concert activities as a soloist and accompanist since 1972, continuing his studies from 1975 to 1983 as a private student of Walter Kamlet.

At the same time he began teaching: from 1972 to 1975 as a piano teacher at music schools in the canton of Baselland, from 1973 to 1975 also at the cantonal teachers' college in Liestal; from 1975 to 1979 as piano teacher and director of chamber music ensembles at the Salem schools ; from 1980 to 1994 as head of a training class for piano and head of the methodology / didactics of piano playing at the vocational department of the Kassel Music Academy . In 1998 and 1999 he was teaching the Alexander Technique for pianists at the Cologne University of Music .

Since 1987 he has been a teacher of the Alexander Technique (training with Elizabeth Langford and Paul Collins). The focus of his work as an Alexander teacher was working with professional musicians from all directions. Rudolf Kratzert became known through several publications on the subject of the Alexander Technique for musicians and through 60 courses for pianists and music school teachers in collaboration with the Alexander teachers Elizabeth Langford, Paul Collins, Colette Dethioux and Peter Lösch. He also gave piano courses at the music academies in Hanover, Weimar, Lübeck (as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival 1993) and Mantova (Italy).

Since 1995 Rudolf Kratzert has been leading the piano intensive project for professional pianists in Wiesloch near Heidelberg .
