Rudolf Krauss (born March 14, 1861 in Cannstatt , † September 25, 1945 in Stuttgart ) was a German literary scholar and secret archivist . His Swabian literary history was groundbreaking for the comprehensive appreciation of literary regions and the inclusion of specialist prose under the sign of an expanded concept of literature. He also paid special attention to the history of the theater in Stuttgart.

The politically liberal Krauss, an opponent of National Socialism , is the father of the Romanist Werner Krauss (1900–1976).

Since the summer semester of 1880 he was a member of the student association AV Igel Tübingen .
