history

During the reign of Sultan Taimur ibn Faisal , the places al-Chasab and Qadah were bombarded by British warships on April 21, 1930. The trigger was the refusal of the local Sheikh ( Wali ) to come to Muscat to see the Sultan. The surrounding mountains and the fortress in al-Khasab were shelled for three days until the sheikh finally gave up and was brought to Muscat. He fled from there and returned to al-Khasab. When he was captured again, he was deposed and replaced by a relative of the Sultan.
