Rudolf Möbius (born March 18, 1921 ; † after 1955) was a German football player who played in the GDR league in the 1950s for the SG Volkspolizei / Dynamo Dresden and SC Dynamo Berlin . With Dresden he was GDR football champion and cup winner.

Athletic career

In 1950, the GDR sports association, the German People's Police , decided to develop the Dresden city league club SG Volkspolizei into the sports association's top football club. To this end, a screening course was held in Forst in the summer of 1950 with talented players from all police sports associations in the GDR . The 29-year-old Rudolf Möbius from the lower class SG Volkspolizei Meißen was among those invited. He knew how to convince and was accepted into the cadre of the SG Volkspolizei Dresden.

For the 1950/51 season, the newly formed SG VP Dresden was incorporated into the upper league of the GDR Sports Committee without any athletic qualifications . Möbius was first used on the 6th matchday in the league, but then played all the point games until the end of the season. He was alternately used as a center forward or on the half-left attacking side and was Dresden's second-best goalscorer with 15 goals behind Günter Schröter . In 1951/52 SG Volkspolizei was already runner-up. This time Möbius finally had his regular place on the half left, was used in all 36 point games and scored 13 goals. Even when Dresden became champions in 1953 (renamed SG Dynamo Dresden during the season), Möbius was involved in 30 of 32 point games, including in the decider against the tied BSG Wismut Aue , which was won 3: 2 afterwards. In 1953/54 Möbius remained true to his position, missing only one of the 28 point games and scored six goals.

At the beginning of the 1954/55 season Möbius was back on half left and played eight point games in a row by November. In the same month, the entire team was relocated to East Berlin to compete there as SC Dynamo Berlin in the future . Möbius remained a half-left striker until the end of the season, but had to help out in four league games of the re-established SG Dynamo Dresden in February 1955 in the second-rate GDR league . Möbius played his last league game for SC Dynamo Berlin on April 24, 1955, which was also the last game of the season. It was the 151st league game for Möbius (129 for Dresden, 22 for Berlin). Within six seasons he scored 39 goals for Dresden and seven goals for Berlin. Möbius returned to Dynamo Dresden, where he also ended his career as a football player.
