Rudolf Maros

Rudolf Maros [ ˈrudolf ˈmɒroʃ ] (born January 19, 1917 in Stachy in the Bohemian Forest , † August 2, 1982 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian composer of Bohemian origin.

Maros studied from 1938 to 1942 at the Budapest Music Academy with Zoltán Kodály and Albert Siklós , at the same time he was violist with the Budapest Concert Orchestra. He then taught at the Pécs Conservatory . After studying with Alois Hába in Prague , he became a professor at the University of Music in Budapest.

He composed three ballets , two symphoniets, a puppet overture, an orchestral ricercar , a string symphony, a concertino for bassoon and orchestra, chamber music works, organ pieces, two nänien for soprano and chamber ensemble, drama and film music, choral works and songs .

Maros' son Miklós Maros is also a composer, his daughter Éva Maros a harpist.
