Miklós Maros

Miklós Maros (born November 14, 1943 in Pécs ) is a Hungarian composer.

The son of Rudolf Maros studied at the Budapest Conservatory with Rezsö Sugár and at the Music Academy with Ferenc Szabó . In 1968 he moved to Stockholm , where he studied with Ingvar Lidholm until 1972 . Another important teacher was György Ligeti .

From 1971 to 1978 he worked at the Studio for Modern Music and from 1976 to 1980 he taught at the Stockholm Music College. 1980–1981 he was a guest of the Berlin artist program of the German Academic Exchange Service in West Berlin . With his wife, the singer Ilona Maros , he has formed the Maros Ensemble since 1972 , which is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music.

In addition to two operas ( Stora Grusharpan - Die große Kiesharfe, 1982 and Kastrater - Kastrati, 2002) he composed numerous works for various chamber music ensembles, symphonic works, instrumental concerts and vocal works.
