Rudolf Martin (physicist)

Rudolf E. Martin (born March 4, 1925 in Neusalz an der Oder ; † April 30, 1994 in Hanover ) was a German physicist who was mainly active in the fields of acoustics.

Martin began studying physics at the University of Breslau in 1943 , which he graduated from the University of Marburg with a diploma in 1949 after the Second World War . In 1952 he received his doctorate here for Dr.-phil.

In 1953/1954 he started working at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig . From the 1970s he headed the hearing acoustics department and from 1985 to 1990 the mechanics and acoustics department .

In 1978 he received the VDI medal and in 1979 the DIN pin of honor. In 1991 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . In 2019 he was posthumously appointed honorary member of the German Society for Acoustics .

The certificate of honor of the Acoustics, Noise Reduction and Vibration Technology Standards Committee (NALS) bears the name Rudolf Martin Certificate of Honor in his honor .
