Rudolf Piechocki

Rudolf Piechocki (born November 8, 1919 in Halle ; † July 14, 2000 ) was a German biologist , taxidermist and professor of zoology at the University of Halle .

First, Piechocki completed training as a taxidermist at the Schlüter & Maas educational institution. In 1949 he began his biology studies at the University of Halle, graduated in 1955 and obtained his doctorate from 1957. In 1959 he was appointed head of the zoological collection of his university ( custodian ) and in 1970 received a teaching permit. In 1995 he was made an honorary member of the DO-G .

As a taxidermist and on many excursions, Piechocki contributed to the systematic research of the fauna of Germany, China, Cuba and Mongolia. He has published over 170 specialist articles and books, among others in Urania-Verlag and in Grzimek's animal life .

The historian and archivist Werner Piechocki was his brother. Rudolf Piechocki is the father of the biologist Reinhard Piechocki (* 1949).
