Werner Piechocki

Werner Piechocki (born November 10, 1927 in Ammendorf ; † September 30, 1996 ) was a German historian and archivist . From 1951 to 1993 he was in charge of the Halle city archive .

life and work

Piechocki studied history , philosophy and German at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1947 to 1951 . He received his doctorate in 1965 with a thesis on the Ammendorf-Besen manor. From 1951 to 1993 he was in charge of the Halle city archive , his predecessor was Erich Neuss , his successor was Ralf Jacob .

Werner Piechocki has published numerous books and thousands of other articles on the history of the city of Halle (including the section From the history of the city on the Saale in the daily newspaper Der Neue Weg ).

He was awarded the title of Senior Archives Councilor for long-term management of the Halle City Archives .

He was married to Brunhilde Piechocki. The zoologist Rudolf Piechocki (1919–2000) was his brother.
