Rudolf Rückert

Rudolf Rückert (born January 15, 1929 in Naumburg am Queis , Lower Silesia ) is a German local politician from the CDU . He was Lord Mayor from 1981 to 1986 and from 1996 to 2001 and from 1986 to 1996 Mayor of Salzgitter .

Life

Until 1944, Rückert attended the boarding school of the State Dental Schools in Bunzlau , Lower Silesia. In 1944 he was called up for military service, was taken prisoner and had to experience flight and expulsion from Silesia. He completed his Abitur at the Corvinianum high school in Northeim , Lower Saxony. After studying pedagogy, he was a teacher at various schools in Salzgitter, and from 1977 headmaster at the Amselstieg secondary school in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt . He chaired and held offices in numerous clubs and associations. He held many political offices in the Junge Union and in the CDU in the Braunschweig regional association and the city of Salzgitter. Since 1963 he has been a member of the local council and council of the city of Salzgitter and chairman of various committees as well as a member of supervisory and advisory boards. He was also a member of the Presidium of the Lower Saxony Association of Cities and the committees of the Association of German Cities .

  • Honorary Citizen of the City of Salzgitter (2002)
  • Freeman of the British city of Swindon , Freeman of the Borough of Swindon (2007). He is the first foreigner to receive this British honor for his special services to international understanding and the twinning between Swindon and Salzgitter.
